Nayarit Airport will have a new terminal

The new terminal at the airport in the capital of Nayarit is expected to be completed next year, confirmed the state’s Secretary of Tourism, Juan Enrique Suárez del Real Tostado.

The state official stated that the new terminal, the Riviera Nayarita International Airport, will have a capacity of 3 million passengers.

He stated that this airport terminal, which is currently being built by the Aeropuertos Mexicanos Airport Group (AME), will have four gates and is projected to have “significant growth” over the next 15 years, handling up to 10 million passengers.

“It will help us unlock opportunities along the Nayarit coast, which spans the municipalities of Compostela and San Blas. Today, major projects are taking off there, and this is linked to the land connectivity that the state governor, Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, has been developing; Today we have a major tourist roundabout in the state capital that showcases the coastal area—Compostela, Bahía de Banderas, and San Blas—and leads back to the capital,” he said.

He stated that the state government has worked alongside AME, which has invested in Nayarit and its growth as a destination.

He said that the airport provides a new, “highly secure” gateway to the Mexican Pacific and is expected to complement the Puerto Vallarta International Airport, which will have a new terminal in a few years, helping to boost tourist arrivals.

Currently, the Nayarit airport offers flights from the United States and Canada, so they plan to add more flights once the new terminal opens.
