Nidec Press & Automation starts expansion in Querétaro

QUERETARO - Nidec Press & Automation, one of the divisions of the global automotive supplier Nidec, announced the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of its site in Queretaro, together with company executives and authorities.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Enrique Michelena, Regional Sales Director, Nidec Minster Mexico; Samuel Cardenas, Notary Public No. 46 of Queretaro; Eloy Sashida, General Manager of Nidec Minster Mexico; Greg Martin, Executive Vice President of Operations; and Alejandro Sterling, Director of Industrial Development of the State of Queretaro.

With this expansion, Nidec Press & Automation will quadruple the size of its current service facilities in Querétaro. The expansion is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. Once completed, the expanded facility will house an additional 8,600 square meters of production space, for a total area of 20,000 square meters across the entire production site.

Other major improvements will include increased crane capacity and new machining equipment. The expansion will increase capabilities for in-house manufacturing of press components and repair parts, as well as press assembly.

Metal formers in Mexico and Latin America will have faster and easier access to locally manufactured repair parts and will benefit from expanded service and manufacturing capabilities closer to home.

The US$20 million investment underscores NP&A's long-term commitment to providing new job opportunities in the region. NP&A plans to hire approximately 40 additional employees locally over the next five years.
