Nissan Celebrates 65 Years in Mexico

Nissan is celebrating 65 years in Mexico by reaffirming the country’s role and commitment as one of the company’s most important operations globally, as well as a key driver of its future growth, manufacturing excellence, and innovation.

During the anniversary celebration, Iván Espinosa, president and CEO of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., highlighted Mexico's strategic importance in meeting the company's long-term goals and strengthening its global competitiveness.

Today, Nissan Mexicana is Nissan's fourth-largest operation worldwide, with cumulative production of more than 17 million vehicles, 18 consecutive years of sales leadership, and a market share of nearly 18% in the Mexican market.

During the last fiscal year, Nissan sold more than 276,000 units in the Mexican market, posting a 6.8% increase compared to the previous period, outpacing industry growth, which stood at 1.4%.

While celebrating its legacy in Mexico, Nissan is also investing in the future. Nissan Mexicana is undertaking one of the most significant portfolio overhauls in its history, with the addition of 11 new products in 2026.

Mexico plays a key role in Nissan’s regional strategy for Latin America, a region that accounts for approximately 15% of the company’s global sales and nearly 25% of its worldwide production. This strategy also includes the expansion of electrified technologies, with the introduction of three different solutions, in addition to Nissan e-POWER—a technology that has already surpassed 40,000 units sold in Latin America and facilitates the transition toward more efficient mobility tailored to the region’s needs.

With world-class manufacturing operations, market-leading performance, and Mexican talent in key positions at both the local and global levels, the future of Nissan and that of Mexico are more closely linked today than ever before.
