Clúster de Herramentales de Nuevo Leon considers that there is a positive outlook for 2019, due to the sector’s potential for integration to replace imports.

"The challenge is to be able to substitute these imports with national production," said Alfonso Peña, director of the cluster.

Said that, with the signing of the treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada, one of the clauses that will be imposed, is the regional integration of the three countries, from 62.5% to 75%, which will be a gradual process that will take place over the next three years.

This measure means that companies will have to produce more in the northeast of the country, taking advantage on Mexico’s competitiveness regarding costs, said the executive.
