Nuevo León is strengthening its electric vehicle ecosystem.

Mexico is currently undergoing a transition toward full electromobility, which has redefined its automotive history. Nuevo León has positioned itself as one of the states best equipped to respond to this transformation.

The role of the government within the North American supply chain has been strengthened by a combination of a well-established manufacturing base, a specialized network of suppliers, and the influx of new investments in electric vehicles.

According to the Mapping of the Automotive Industry in Nuevo León by Cluster Industrial B2B, Nuevo León has an ecosystem comprising 863 companies in the automotive industry, including assembly plants, Tier suppliers, and companies providing raw materials, specialized products, and services. This infrastructure supports the production of internal-combustion vehicles and the growth of manufacturing related to electrification.

Nuevo León expects to produce 307,327 light vehicles to maintain a leading position in auto parts manufacturing, ranking third nationally in production with US$ 15,629 million.

The mapping identifies Nuevo León as a region with growing specialization in components for electric vehicles, home to 11 suppliers of batteries, capacitors, and related components, eight suppliers of electric powertrains, five companies specializing in cooling and thermal management systems for electric vehicles, as well as 43 suppliers of components for electromobility.

In addition to this capacity, there are 297 product suppliers, 255 service companies, 60 raw material suppliers, and 22 companies focused on smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0—features that strengthen the development of advanced manufacturing projects, enabling them to meet the requirements of the automakers based in the state. In addition, the growth of electromobility is reflected in the influx of new investments. The map shows various projects related to the manufacturing of components for electric vehicles and related technologies.
