Nuevo León Seeks Cooperation with Australia and New Zealand

Nuevo León’s Secretary of Labor, Federico Rojas, will lead the 2026 Labor Mission to Australia and New Zealand, which aims to sustain the manufacturing sector’s momentum by securing new investments and strengthening the labor market, while ensuring that the needs for talent, specialized training, and long-term stability are met. 

Similarly, he will be joined by a delegation of officials, specialists, and leaders from business organizations such as CAINTRA, COPARMEX, and INDEX Nuevo León, who will travel to Australia to learn about strategies from other markets for addressing workforce challenges.

To increase productivity, the key lies in strengthening the collaboration between technical training and the actual demands of the industry. That is why the visit to the University Of Technology Sydney (UTS), Monash University, and the University of Melbourne will examine cutting-edge training models, regulatory frameworks, and labor migration policies, with a focus on identifying best practices that address the challenges of the labor market.

Similarly, the delegation will hold meetings with the New South Wales Department of Industrial Relations Policy and the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment (MBIE), as well as with business chambers such as Business NSW and the Employers and Manufacturers Association (EMA).

For the local manufacturing sector, having specialized talent and job stability are key to the success and competitiveness of plants in the region.

However, improving the productive ecosystem equally requires attention to occupational safety conditions and labor-management relations. That is why the state delegation will meet with labor organizations in Oceania, such as the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions (NZCTU) and the E Tū union.

The meeting is expected to address issues such as labor inspections, collective bargaining, and worker mobility, as well as to explore different models of labor management.
