Nuevo León Seeks to Diversify Economy Through Electronics Industry

Nuevo León aims to expand its economic growth opportunities by promoting sectors such as electronics, whose exports rose 90.8% year-over-year in the first half of 2026, according to Betsabé Rocha Nieto, the state’s secretary of Economic Development.

“The electronics sector is experiencing significant growth,” Rocha Nieto said, adding that the state seeks to capitalize on nearshoring to attract new investment in the industry.

She emphasized that the goal is to ensure these investments benefit not only foreign companies establishing operations in the state but also domestic businesses by creating new business opportunities and jobs.

Rocha Nieto explained that the state government has a procurement division responsible for connecting companies seeking to establish or expand operations in Nuevo León with local suppliers. The division maps companies’ value chains and identifies potential local suppliers to meet their operational needs.

The government also works with industrial clusters and promotes financing, digitalization, and training programs to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) professionalize their operations and integrate into supply chains.
