Nuevo León Vehicle Exports Rise 10.3%
The automotive industry in Nuevo León continues to strengthen its position in international markets. Between January and September 2026, exports of light vehicles produced in the state totaled 177,727 units, representing annual growth of 10.3% and the highest volume ever recorded for a comparable period.
These results stand in contrast to the slowdown in Mexico’s automotive industry, where both production and exports declined. While national light vehicle exports fell by 1.5% cumulatively during the first nine months of 2026, Nuevo León maintained its growth and strengthened its presence in international markets.
Based on data from Inegi analyzed by the state’s Ministry of Economy, exports of light vehicles manufactured in Nuevo León increased from 161,195 units between January and September 2025 to 177,727 during the same period in 2026.
In September alone, the state exported 20,783 vehicles, compared with 19,205 in the same month of the previous year, representing an increase of 8.2%.
Betsabé Rocha, Nuevo León’s Secretary of Economy, said the performance reflects the competitiveness and capacity of the state’s automotive industry to meet demand in international markets.
“Nuevo León is a leader in Mexico’s automotive industry because the results speak to the quality of what we manufacture here, the talent of our people, and confidence in our production capacity,” she said.
The official noted that the state’s goal is to further strengthen the conditions that will allow Nuevo León to increase its participation in the international manufacturing and distribution of vehicles.
“We want to continue strengthening this ecosystem so that more and more vehicles are manufactured in Nuevo León and reach markets around the world,” she added.
