PEMEX contained diesel spill

PEMEX reported a diesel spill at the dock of the Deer Park refinery in Texas, which has already been contained; the company estimates that repair and cleanup work will take approximately two days.

The incident occurred due to the interaction of two private vessels: one that was being supplied with diesel and another that had just completed its loading and was heading toward the canal exit, according to a statement released by the company.

PEMEX stated that specialized refinery personnel contained the diesel spill, after which response and safety protocols were immediately activated. It explained that Deer Park notified the community and authorities via a Level 3 Community Awareness and Emergency Response message.

The Deer Park refinery was fully acquired by PEMEX in 2022 and is one of the oil company’s key assets for achieving energy sovereignty. It has a processing capacity of up to 340,000 barrels per day.
The facility primarily processes heavy crude oil and supplies diesel and gasoline to the Mexican market.
