Just in time for the U.S. 250th anniversary celebrations, the first 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT trucks began rolling off the production line at the Sterling Heights assembly plant in Michigan and are on their way to customers.

In this regard, Tim Kuniskis, CEO of the Ram brand, said that the original TRX set the standard for high-performance pickup trucks, so bringing it back wasn’t enough—they had to make sure it was worth it.

“This is pure American performance and ingenuity, proudly built by our team at the Sterling Heights assembly plant in Michigan.”

Unveiled just six months ago, the TRX is the first off-road vehicle to emerge from the newly relaunched SRT Performance division and the first Ram SRT in two decades.

It is the most powerful production half-ton gasoline pickup truck ever built that is street-legal, with 777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque.

For Chuck Padden, vice president and plant manager in Sterling Heights, the site has been Ram’s home for nearly a decade, so “it’s an honor to build the first SRT off-road product since the legendary high-performance division was relaunched earlier this year,” he said.

Since 2018, after being reconfigured from a car plant to a truck plant, Sterling Heights has assembled more than 2 million Ram 1500 trucks.
