Puebla Seeks to Boost Business in Morocco

The Secretariat of Economic Development and Labor (Sedetra) has decided to send a sample collection of twenty-eight products bearing the Puebla Cinco de Mayo brand to boost its presence in Morocco.
Puebla Cinco de Mayo is a brand created to support producer groups, collectives, artisans, and social enterprises that promote well-being in Puebla
The shipments sent to Morocco contain coffee, mole poblano, hibiscus flowers and natural hibiscus extract, blue corn pinole, honey, sauces, dressings, jams, dried fruits, spices, and salts. They also include nutrition bars, snacks, and a wide variety of traditional sweets.
This product showcase explores ways to highlight the region's rich agri-food sector, the value of artisanal production, and the processing capabilities that producers in the municipalities are developing, said Víctor Gabriel Chedraui, head of Sedetra.
He also noted that this exhibition of products from Puebla is intended to showcase them to the tourism, commercial, and business sectors of the Kingdom of Morocco.
Products shipped under the Puebla Cinco de Mayo brand help expand the presence of local companies in international markets.
“The Puebla Cinco de Mayo brand serves as a tool for promoting the quality, identity, and added value of products from Puebla in markets with high growth potential,” the official noted.
On the other hand, Gabriel Chedraui also acknowledged that the United States is “the nostalgia market” created by migrants, which explains the great interest in establishing a presence there.
It is worth noting that 56 products are exported to the United States, representing one million dollars and 19 metric tons shipped, according to Sedetra.
However, it is emphasized that foreign trade helps diversify markets for small producers, who are adopting new technologies to improve production and presentation.
