Puerta Logística del Bajío to Build a Customs Section in Celaya

Puerta Logistica del Bajio (PLB) has obtained permission to begin construction of a new customs section in Celaya as well as to carry out import and export operations for containers and breakbulk cargo.

The construction site will cover approximately 6.6 hectares, which will be part of the 52-hectare first phase of the logistics project.

The facility will house areas for port operations, inspection modules, and customs processing, with the goal of bringing together, in a single location, integrated foreign trade services, cargo transfer, and rail connectivity.

The customs section will feature hectares of intermodal infrastructure, planned as part of the PLB, thereby enabling the transit of goods via rail as well as other modes of transport.

The project will include a connection to the Ferromex and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) networks, providing dual access to the most heavily used rail corridors for freight transit in North America.

The authorization allows PLB to move forward with the construction and installation of its logistics platform, with the goal of increasing its customs and foreign trade capabilities for manufacturing companies and supply chains in Guanajuato and the Bajío region.

The infrastructure is expected to house the Celaya Economic Development Hub for Well-being (PODECOBI), with the aim of concentrating industrial and logistics projects that have easy access to transportation, services, and connectivity with foreign trade.

Similarly, this facility is expected to have a capacity of approximately 150,000 TEUs per year, which will support the handling of containerized cargo in the central part of the country, allowing customs operations to be conducted closer to the region’s industrial centers.
