Querétaro companies at SIAL Paris
Seeking to expand their presence in the international market, a group of 10 companies from Querétaro has been selected to participate in the upcoming edition of SIAL (International Food Exhibition) in Paris, France—one of Europe's most important agri-food trade fairs.
These food and beverage companies will be showcasing their products in a local representative pavilion, according to René Loya Poletti, president of the Querétaro Chamber of Commerce.
The commercial objective aligns with the chamber's strategy to promote local businesses internationally. Currently, only 1% to 2% of members export products; therefore, one of the goals is to increase that proportion.
SIAL Paris 2026 will take place in October as a biennial event bringing together the agri-food industry. According to the organizers, it is a hub for producers, distributors, importers, and exporters, gathering representatives from 13 countries and 8,000 exhibitors, and showcasing nearly 400,000 products.
The ten participating companies produce items such as jam, mole, corn and flour tortillas, cocoa-based products, wines, coffee, and sauces, among others.
“In two weeks, we are heading to SIAL Paris—Europe’s most important food and beverage expo—to boost sales. We have a Chamber booth where we will showcase around ten companies from Querétaro at this major international event attended by buyers from all over the world. (…) The participants are primarily family-run businesses, small enterprises, and entrepreneurs, because exporting isn't just for big companies—anyone can export,” he stated.
Local businesses have high expectations regarding their participation in SIAL; according to the chamber president, an increase in demand for Mexican products abroad is anticipated. Opportunities lie in the nostalgia market, driven by migrant communities; however, commercial opportunities also exist among foreign customers seeking Mexican products such as salsa, mole, beverages, and so on.
