SECIHTI presents new Computing and Artificial Intelligence Cluster

The Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (SECIHTI) unveiled the National High-Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence Cluster, which aims to promote a national network of high-performance nodes in both fields, to be installed at at least nine universities and public research centers.
The goal is to strengthen existing infrastructure, expand access to advanced computing resources, and promote scientific and technological collaboration for the development of high-impact projects in strategic areas.
Dr. Rosaura Ruiz Gutierrez, head of SECIHTI, stated that this initiative brings together the strengths of each participating institution in the field of supercomputing, acknowledging that collaboration is key.
For his part, Hector Benitez Perez, Director General of Computing and Information and Communication Technologies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and project coordinator, emphasized that the cluster will also promote the training of specialists and technicians; strengthen infrastructure and connectivity; and establish a governance model.
In addition, the initiative aims to consolidate access to high-performance computing and develop projects in areas of strategic importance to the country through cooperation networks among various stakeholders in the academic and scientific communities.
