SERFIMEX plans to invest in solar energy

Quintana Roo is one of the states with the highest electricity consumption relative to its Gross Domestic Product (GDP), exceeding 12,000 kWh, according to information provided during the signing of a collaboration agreement between Serfimex Capital—the national leader in specialized financing for solar projects—and the state’s Secretariat of Ecology and the Environment (SEMA).
The company announced an investment of US$57.4 million to promote photovoltaic and energy storage systems, with the goal of strengthening electrical resilience and accelerating the adoption of solar energy.
As part of the agreement, the Multiple-Purpose Financial Company (SOFOM), through Serfimex Solar, will offer financing schemes to eliminate barriers to accessing solar energy, including loans with a 0% down payment; it will also allow for a 100% tax deduction on the investment starting in the first year and monthly payments lower than the savings generated by the system.
The Center for Economic and Budgetary Research (CIEP) notes that the industrial sector accounts for 42.3% of the state’s electricity consumption, of which 28% corresponds to the hotel industry—the sector with the highest electricity demand in the country.
Through this partnership, the Government of Quintana Roo and Serfimex Capital are strengthening a joint strategy to promote a cleaner, more competitive energy system capable of supporting the state’s economic growth.
