Space sector: an opportunity area for Queretaro’s industry

QUERETARO — Within the development of the aerospace industry, the entity is currently analyzing projects for the promotion of the space sector’s growth; it is worth mentioning that both the private Initiative and the public sector are added to said projects.

The purpose is to diversify the growth of this industry, promoting branches which are barely explored in Queretaro since the development of the aerospace industry has been focused in aeronautics.

During the last decade the aeronautical industry of the state has recorded an increase growth of 200% regarding the number of companies installed in the entity, stated the minister of Sustainable Development, Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero.

"There are different routes. There is the aerospace industry in its great dimension, there is the aeronautical sector and the space sector that includes rockets and satellites; the aeronautical sector includes aircraft and unmanned aircraft; we are working, "he said.

The French company Safran, one of the companies based in the state, is analyzing the development of a satellite launch project; however, it is a costly initiative for which financing schemes are studied, as well as who will be the participants involved.  "We've been talking to Safran. The company has a very ambitious project in mind which aims to launch satellites, we have been working on it, it is an expensive project, “said Del Prete.
