Stellantis Will Produce a New Engine for the Ram in Coahuila

Stellantis has confirmed that production of the new HEMI TRX engine will take place exclusively at its Planta Motores Norte plant, located in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila. This facility is the company’s only plant worldwide responsible for manufacturing this new high-performance engine.

The program heralds Coahuila's return to manufacturing with the 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine, designed to power the new Ram 1500 TRX.

Ramos Arizpe is resuming production of one of the engines associated with high performance in the U.S. automotive industry, while also strengthening its expertise in engine manufacturing. Meanwhile, the production of the HEMI TRX is reportedly assembled at the complex located in Drramadero, south of Saltillo, being the Ram 1500 TRX.

The engine will be manufactured in Ramos Arizpe, while the SUV will be assembled in Derramadero, meaning that the two key processes of this international automotive program will be concentrated in the southeastern region of Coahuila.

During the program’s launch, Simon Rodriguez Oyervides, Center Manager at HEMI, emphasized that this assignment represents recognition of the technical skills developed by the workers and the expertise the plant has achieved in the manufacture of high-performance engines, showing the manufacturing of the new engine involves specialized personnel from various departments, such as assembly, training, dynamometer testing, manufacturing, and quality management.

Meanwhile, José Pagano, Vice President of Powertrain Manufacturing, is acknowledging the work of the employees and highlighting the experience and technical expertise of the staff responsible for bringing the new engine into production.

With the launch of the program, the integration of these two operations strengthens Coahuila’s role within the Stellantis North America automotive supply chain and brings the manufacturing of an iconic Ram engine back to the state.
