The Interoceanic Train transports more than 2 million metric tons of goods

The Tehuantepec Isthmus Interoceanic Railway has transported more than 2 million metric tons of domestic and international goods since it began operations, according to the government of Oaxaca.

The state government reported that this cargo movement has contributed to the state’s economic growth, adding that more than 40,000 metric tons of agricultural grains—such as corn, beans, squash, rice, and wheat—as well as containerized cargo, industrial supplies, construction materials, and specialized wind power equipment have been transported via the vessel Ocean Adore.

Authorities noted that the first international interoceanic crossings took place over the past two years. In March 2025, 900 Hyundai vehicles were transported from Cora del Sur aboard the Glovis Cosmos, and then moved via the Z railway line from Salina Cruz to Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, to continue on to their final destination.

 The second shipment consisted of 3,000 vehicles of the same make.
