UTEP Develops Industrial Mobility in San Luis Potosí Using Artificial Intelligence
The transportation company UTEP has implemented a comprehensive plan that incorporates technology, specialized training, and continuous monitoring to ensure safe and on-time transportation to the state's major manufacturing complexes. Due to the congestion on roads such as Highway 57, as well as the rapid development of the San Luis Potosí Industrial Zone, which is driving the need to improve mobility in the region.
The company’s technology operations are supported by a fleet of 271 vehicles equipped with MOVON cameras featuring artificial intelligence. These systems detect risky driving behavior and generate immediate alerts in the event of signs of fatigue, distractions caused by cell phone use, or potential collision risks, in this way, drivers can correct their maneuvers in a timely manner, reducing road incidents.
The system operates through continuous monitoring from a specialized command center, supported by the company’s administrative department, with UTEP actively participating in the road safety committee of the Industrial Zone Users’ Union (UUZI), enabling the sharing of real-time traffic reports, optimizing routes, and responding quickly to accidents or roadblocks.
The company’s mobile transportation network provides daily service to more than 7,500 passengers commuting to their workplaces, operating 278 daily routes that cover more than 56,900 km per day—a factor that directly influences productivity and reduces absenteeism in the industrial sector of San Luis Potosí.
With this specialized safety oversight and the support of continuous monitoring tools, UTEP has established a preventive model aimed at reducing road risks. The combination of technology and operational control makes it possible to optimize travel times, reducing the likelihood of traffic incidents and providing greater peace of mind to companies that entrust their employees’ transportation to UTEP.
