Walmart invests US$5.7 million in Queretaro

QUERETARO – The head of the Ministry of Sustainable Development (SEDESU), Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, inaugurated the facilities of Walmart Express, Zibatá branch, which represents an investment of US$5.7 million and the generation of 96 direct jobs.

"I am confident that we can work together to implement a supplier development program with you to increase local content in Walmart stores," he said.

He also explained that tertiary activities added US$10 billion to the Gross Domestic Product in 2020, this represents 58.5% of the total GDP, specifically services contribute 61% of the tertiary sector and commerce 39%.

Regarding Foreign Direct Investment he commented that the commerce sector reports US$63.1 million of investment for the first semester of 2022, which means 15.6% more than in 2021; while the services sector had an investment of US$152.6 million. Overall, trade and services FDI was of US$215.7 million, which represents 32.9% of the state's total investment.

Finally, Del Prete Tercero highlighted that, according to IMSS figures, as of September 2022 the commerce sector registered 110,529 jobs, 1,030 more than in August; in Querétaro, it is the third sector with the highest number of jobs.
