Yokohama Rubber invests US$380 million in Coahuila

SALTILLO, COAH - Yokohama Rubber Co. announced that it will build a passenger car tire plant in Mexico to strengthen its capacity to supply tires to the North American market.

The new plant will be located in the Alianza Industrial Park in Saltillo, Coahuila, and will have access to a major rail line and highway to facilitate the timely supply of tires to customers throughout North America.

It will have an annual production capacity of 5 million tires, with an expected capital investment totaling US$380 million.

Construction of the new plant will begin in the second quarter of 2024, after the elections in the country, and production is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2027.

The new plant will be built on a site with a total area of approximately 610,000 square meters, which will be able to accommodate future expansions in several phases.
