Yucatán Strengthens Partnership with International Shipping Companies

Yucatán has strengthened its partnerships with major international shipping companies in an effort to establish the state as a competitive destination and attract next-generation vessels, according to a report by the state government following a meeting held at the National Port System Administration (Asipona) facilities in Progreso.

During that meeting, representatives of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), cruise line executives, and officials from all three levels of government discussed new ways to develop the cruise industry and its impact on communities linked to the sector, and reviewed progress on the terminal’s expansion and its benefits for tourism.

The event also provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration with the Royal Caribbean Group, Carnival Corporation, MSC Cruises, Margaritaville at Sea, and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, with the goal of ensuring the state remains involved in the industry’s strategic decisions and creating conditions that foster new growth opportunities.

FCCA President Michele M. Paige has acknowledged the coordinated efforts of the various stakeholders who have participated in the port expansion project, and she has also congratulated the Yucatan State Government for coordinating these efforts and fulfilling its commitment to improve conditions in order to increase the number of cruise ships visiting the region.
