ZF highlights Mexico’s competitiveness

During the 4th edition of the Automotive Industry Supply Summit—held in Queretaro—Jorge Martinez, ZF’s senior regional buyer, noted that nearshoring has become a central element in the integration of supply chains in North America, where Mexico maintains its significant position within the manufacturing sector thanks to its industrial capacity and proximity to the US market.

The executive noted that one of the main challenges for the industry centers on infrastructure and energy supply issues, factors that impact the expansion of operations and the influx of new manufacturing investments.

Supplier companies based in Mexico have competitive advantages over other international markets, although there is a need to strengthen quality management systems, certifications, and technological upgrades.

The regionalization of production chains and the strengthening of domestic content are emerging as key factors in maintaining the competitiveness of the automotive industry in the country.
