Alstom to deliver six trains already tested for the Mayan Train
MEXICO – By December 2023, the Fondo Nacional de Fomento al Turismo (Fonatur) will have in its possession 13 trains for the Tren Maya, of which six will be fully tested and ready to operate, said Alstom's director, Maite Ramos.
At a press conference, she said that the first operations would be in manual mode, since the installation of the systems and the operational control center will be completed in April 2024, as planned in the contract.
However, the directive specified that the inauguration of the Mayan Train may occur on the date planned by the federal government, the last month of next year, and that the trains will be able to travel on the track safely.
According to the contractual relationship, Alstom must complete its order for 42 trains, plus the construction of depots, workshops and signaling in November 2024.
Ramos ruled out that the increase in materials in recent months at the international level will be reflected in the price of the trains and that since they have anticipated purchases at this time they do not have any complications.
