Over 20 energy and telecommunications companies put investment on hold for NAFTA

More than 20 companies in the energy and telecommunications sectors have their investment plans on hold, until the outcome of NAFTA negotiations has made clear. The first five days of negotiations did not go like the executives would have wanted them, particularly according to words from the Commercial US representative, Robert Lighthizer who said that, for many US citizens, this agreement has failed. The North American negotiator assured that the enormous commercial deficit can hardly be ignored, as well as the jobs lost in the manufacturing sector, and companies that have closed or relocated operations due to the incentives. Moreover, thousands of US factory workers lost their jobs due to the NAFTA, said Lighthizer.
