Canadian investment announcements in Mexico total US$2.3 billion
MEXICO - Public announcements of foreign investment in Mexico from Canada accumulate an expectation of US$2.3 billion, which would generate 6,630 new jobs, according to the Undersecretary of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economy (SE), Alejandro Encinas.
At the inauguration of the Mexico-Canada business forum “CanCham Day 2024”, in the Mexican capital, Encinas detailed that from 2023 to July 2024, 21 public announcements were registered by Canadian companies.
“Not necessarily all of them are there, since not all companies make public investment announcements, but the Ministry of Economy carries out a detailed follow-up of these announcements, which allows us to know where investments are shaping up and at what pace they will be arriving in the coming years,” the official said.

Encinas pointed out that within the framework of the relocation of supply chains, a phenomenon also known as “nearshoring”, there has been a greater territorial distribution of these investments, not only focused on the mining sector, but also on the food sector.
