400 nearshoring projects on hold

MEXICO - There are 400 projects related to nearshoring that represent a great opportunity for growth, ready to be developed in Mexico, said Julio Carranza, president of the Association of Banks of Mexico (ABM).

The leader of the guild recalled that the North American region, the United States, Canada and Mexico represent 28% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the world and “we have a privileged geographical situation to take advantage of it”.

“Mexico has many opportunities, with clear signals and confidence from the government, we have the opportunity of a lifetime, but let's also remember that opportunities come only once in a long time,” he said.

Everyone, added the president of the banking union, is waiting to see how the reform of the Judicial Power lands, how the change of government comes and there is great hope in the new president.

We think, he said, that with Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo there will be continuity in the social part, we will also have a good analysis and dialogue of the projects and important issues for the country.

The also chairman of the board of directors of Banco Coppel, spoke openly about the recent approval of the reform to the country's judicial system.

It is important to consider that Mexico requires a reform to the Judiciary, but the changes need to be more inclusive, reaching local judges, public ministries, there where people have to face diverse elements in the search for justice.

“We agree with the reform, but we also have to take care of the country, it means having clear filters to see who the judges are and we cannot choose just anyone, represent us and do justice for all the people,” he commented.

The reform, he was interrupted, is already approved, but he added. It was approved in the Chamber of Deputies, but it is necessary to work on secondary laws, to fine tune details in order to achieve a good reform to the Federal Judiciary.
