Over 500 Chihuahua producers linked to commercial chains in Mexico

CHIHUAHUA - With the participation of more than 500 Chihuahua producers, the regional Business Factory event was held in the city of Chihuahua, with the aim of linking small and medium-sized companies with different commercial chains nationwide.

The Chihuahua Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE), in collaboration with the GS1 Mexico agency, held the event on September 10 and 11 at the Soberano Sheraton Hotel, the first venue outside Mexico City in 10 years.

During the event, Chihuahua producers were able to hold business meetings with commercial chains such as Walmart, Soriana, Alsuper, Smart, Waldos, Oxxo, Farmacias Guadalajara, among others. 

At the opening ceremony, which was presided over by the head of the SIDE, Ulises Fernández Gamboa, the GS1 agency was thanked for trusting Chihuahua to carry out this regional event, which also includes the participation of Baja California and Durango.

“It is a unique opportunity to bring our micro, small and medium-sized companies, as well as producers, to this showcase of possibilities that opens up with the chains that are participating in this important event,” said Fernandez. 

He also stressed that part of the actions carried out by SIDE in favor of local companies and producers, include strategic alliances with international benchmarks in digitization and e-commerce; subsidies for brand registration, microbiological studies and bar codes; credit financing; training programs and business meetings. 

The general director of GS1, Juan Carlos Molina, said that for the agency this meeting is a milestone, with the state of Chihuahua as the regional headquarters of the Business Factory. 

The regional event was free of charge and offered attendees access to conferences and the exchange of ideas, in addition to enabling local MSMEs to improve their competitiveness, access new markets and strengthen their supply chains.
