Mexico set record in attracting foreign investment during 2024

MEXICO - During 2024, Mexico attracted a record of US$36.8 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
This implied a real growth of 1.1% in year-on-year comparison, according to figures from the Bank of Mexico.
A breakdown by state showed that Mexico City was the largest recipient of FDI; in 2024 it received US$14.4 billion, equivalent to 39% of the total.
In second place was the State of Mexico, concentrating close to 7% of foreign investment.
The top five is completed by other entities of the northern border strip: Baja California, Nuevo León and Chihuahua.
The figure for FDI captured for 2024 is still preliminary and will be adjusted when the institutions have more information on operations.
