Chihuahua’s mining sector promoted at international convention

CHIHUAHUA – The state of Chihuahua is part of the Mexican Pavilion at the PDAC 2025 convention (Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada), one of the most important events in the mining industry worldwide, held in Toronto, Canada.
Ulises Fernández Gamboa, head of Chihuahua’s Secretariat of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE), inaugurated the entity’s stand, accompanied by representatives of the Mining Cluster and various companies with operations in the state. During the event, the role of mining in the state’s economy was highlighted.
According to official data, mining represents approximately 5 percent of the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and in 2024 generated a production value of close to 3 billion dollars.
The Mexico Pavilion at PDAC 2025 seeks to give Chihuahua visibility in the international mining sector and facilitate the creation of new business opportunities. As part of the agenda, Mr. Fernández Gamboa participated in the panel “Mexico Mining Forum 2025, Ministerial Roundtable: Driving Economic Growth Through Mining”, where strategies to strengthen economic development through mining were discussed.
The PDAC 2025 convention will conclude on March 5 with the participation of more than 27 thousand attendees from 135 countries, consolidating itself as a key space for the generation of strategic alliances, the exchange of knowledge and the exploration of investments in the sector.
