Frigostar Invests US$45 Million in Chihuahua
Frigostar, part of the Gazpro Group, has begun operations in Ciudad Juárez with a US$45 million investment in a new cold storage and preservation facility. This project expands the specialized logistics infrastructure available to the food, agricultural, perishable goods, and pharmaceutical industries in the state of Chihuahua. For this reason, the opening represents a business investment by the Gazpro Group in this border city, which has become one of northern Mexico's manufacturing and export hubs.
During the inauguration, Governor Maru Campos Galván was notably present; she recognized Grupo Gazpro—specifically Fernando Fuentes Rey and his family, as well as the company’s director, Ivanna Fuentes—for continuing to invest in the city, and she also highlighted the collaboration between businesses, civil society, and authorities to expand economic opportunities.
The opening of Frigostar comes amid a period of high industrial activity in the state. According to the data, Chihuahua’s exports exceeded US$109 billion last year, representing an increase of more than 45% over the figure recorded in 2024, and maintaining a significant share of national production.
“We are leaders in electronics manufacturing; we produce nearly half of the circuits manufactured in this country, and last year we set a record for exports,” said the governor. “These industrial capabilities, combined with Ciudad Juárez’s border location, are driving demand for specialized logistics services for sectors that require temperature control and specific handling of goods,” the governor explained.
The company's operation expands the infrastructure offerings for high-value-added supply chains in Ciudad Juárez, with services that support the storage and distribution of food, agricultural products, perishables, and pharmaceutical goods. Grupo Gazpro's investment adds logistics capacity to a city that now plays a strategic role in trade between Mexico and the United States.
