Mexicana receives its first Embraer aircraft

The first of 20 Embraer aircraft that will form part of the fleet of the state-owned airline Mexicana arrived at Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA).

The Embraer E195 E2 aircraft, registration XA MXA, was greeted with the traditional “water arch” and transferred to the FBO - passenger terminal - at AIFA, where it was awaited by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and her entourage.

The President of the Republic described the arrival of the new aircraft as the rebirth of Mexicana de Aviación.

She mentioned that Mexicana de Aviación is not just an airline, but a story of struggle, identity, dreams, and work; it is a company that was born with the intention of connecting Mexico with the world and, more importantly, connecting Mexicans with each other.

The president pointed out that for many years, flying in Mexico has been a privilege, as commercial routes are focused on the most profitable destinations: tourist centers, industrial capitals, and high-demand corridors.

In this context, she stressed that while Mexicana de Aviación must operate profitably and efficiently, its purpose is also to ensure that all Mexicans, regardless of where they live, have the right to fly, as part of the National Project.

For his part, General Leobardo Ávila Bojórquez, CEO of Mexicana, explained that the aircraft has an average speed of 963 kilometers per hour, with a range of 4,615 kilometers, meaning it can cover part of North America, part of Central America, and South America, taking off from AIFA.

He explained that the aircraft has a total length of 41.6 meters, from front to rear, and a height of 10.9 meters, measured from the landing gear to the top of the fuselage.

"It is equipped with two state-of-the-art Pratt & Whitney engines and has an optimized aerodynamic design. In addition, its structure is composed of lightweight and composite materials, which significantly reduces operating and maintenance costs," explained General Ávila Bojórquez.

He also reported that, as part of the process, certification flights will be carried out in coordination with the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), with the aim of complying with all established national and international regulations and thus guaranteeing operational safety, which is considered fundamental in the air transport industry.
