OMA and Guerrero government announce airport modernization

The Guerrero State Government and Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte (OMA) announced a historic investment of more than US$53.1 million for the modernization and improvement of Guerrero's airports as part of OMA's 2026-2030 Master Development Program.

This comes within the framework of the signing of a collaboration agreement aimed at boosting air connectivity in Acapulco and Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo.

This strategic alliance promotes cooperation between the two parties with the aim of fostering tourism development through joint actions aimed at opening new domestic and international routes, as well as strengthening existing ones.

Thanks to these improvements, these airports will together have the capacity to receive up to 2.3 million passengers annually, thus boosting the state's tourism and economic prospects.

This investment includes infrastructure projects totaling US$27.9 million for the Acapulco International Airport and US$26.5 million for the Zihuatanejo International Airport.

These resources will be allocated mainly to infrastructure expansion and modernization, investments focused on operational safety, and the acquisition of specialized equipment.

Improvements will also be made to passenger service areas and services, as well as to the aesthetics and views of the terminals.

This investment and the joint work between the Guerrero government and OMA reinforce the commitment to consolidate the state as a first-class tourist destination, projecting its competitiveness in the global market, attracting a greater number of visitors, and strengthening the local economy.
