OMA to invest US$470 million to position Monterrey as Mexico’s main hub

Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA) announced an investment of approximately US$470 million for Monterrey International Airport between 2026 and 2030, aiming to consolidate it as the country’s leading air hub.
As part of this strategy, the airport has already deployed new technologies to streamline passenger processing, including eGates, self-service bag drop systems, and automated migration filters. These upgrades are designed to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the overall travel experience.
OMA executives highlighted that Monterrey is currently experiencing strong growth and will serve as a benchmark for implementing innovations across its network of 13 airports.
With this investment plan, Monterrey is set to strengthen its role as a key aviation hub in Mexico, supporting increased connectivity, passenger traffic, and long-term infrastructure development.
