Mexico & Canada sign agreements

The Ministries of Economy and Health, together with the Federal Commission for Protection against Health Risks (COFEPRIS), signed seven memorandums of understanding with Canadian and Mexican companies and institutions focused on pharmaceutical manufacturing, digital health, and the training of specialized personnel.

According to a press release, the agreements were signed with Apotex Inc., Biotec Canada, MedCockpit Inc., and HealthEMe on the Canadian side, and with the National Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry (CANIFARMA), the Mexican Association of Pharmaceutical Laboratories (AMELAF), Timser, Neolpharma Mexico, and the Mexican Hospital Consortium on the Mexican side.

The memorandums of understanding cover the development of advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing, the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), the digitization of medical services—including digital pathology—and the implementation of solutions for chronic diseases and mental health.

The mission was a follow-up to a visit Canada made to Mexico in February of this year and brought together more than 200 companies from both countries. The agenda included meetings with Canadian authorities, companies in the sector, and research centers.
