Yokohama, to invest in tire plant in Saltillo

The Yokohama Rubber Company announced the construction of two new plants for the production of off-the-road (OTR) tires for mining and construction machinery: one in India and another in Mexico.

For Mexico, the company will invest US$115 million to expand its complex—currently under construction—in Saltillo, Coahuila. This new plant will have an annual capacity of 10,650 metric tons of tires (rubber weight) and will manufacture tires for mining, construction, and agricultural machinery.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, while production is expected to start in the second quarter of 2028.
The complex will occupy a site of approximately 610,000 square meters, marking one of the most significant investments in the industrial tire sector.

The facility will absorb part of the OTR tire production that The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company currently outsources to other regions. Additionally, it will include agricultural tires that were previously manufactured at Yokohama TWS’s Spartanburg plant, through March 2025.
