Ternium drives the adoption of low-carbon steel

Through the development of low-carbon steel, technological innovation, and solutions for electromobility, Ternium is committed to becoming a key partner for automakers in the transition toward more sustainable mobility. This strategy aims to strengthen the integration of the regional value chain in response to the new demands of the automotive market.

Isaac Rosas, Ternium’s automotive sector account manager, noted that the company works closely with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and their suppliers on both steel supply and technological development.

The company confirmed that a new steel mill is scheduled to begin operations later this year in the municipality of Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon, which will operate using an electric arc furnace and a direct iron reduction system to reduce carbon emissions.

These innovations, sustainability projects, and developments for the automotive industry were presented at Proveedor Automotriz, an event the spokesperson described as key to the current ecosystem.

Finally, he emphasized that participating in these events, in addition to allowing them to expand their network of contacts, serves to support the sector’s initiatives and demonstrate the strength of the Monterrey-based industry, the supply chain, and the mobility sector at the national and international levels.
