Zacatecas: New Automotive Cluster.

The Federal Government of Zacatecas has decided to begin establishing its own automotive cluster as part of a strategy aimed at promoting industrial development, increasing the region’s competitiveness, and consolidating the sector as one of the main drivers of the economy.

This initiative is part of the Agenda for Progress, a public policy plan implemented by the Zacatecas State Government and presented by Governor David Monreal Avila, with the aim of promoting socioeconomic development, public safety, and social welfare in the state.

This plan is structured around four main areas: improving security and the rule of law; infrastructure and highway maintenance; economic development; and social programs.

As for investment and economic development, the Secretary of Economy, Jorge Miranda Castro, emphasized that the initiative aims to bring together companies in the sector, institutions of higher education, research centers, business organizations, and government authorities to strengthen collaboration among various stakeholders in the automotive industry.

Likewise, emphasis was placed on the formation of a team within the group that would help encourage local supply and sales, promote innovation, develop specialized talent, improve conditions to attract new investment, and strengthen existing companies already established in the state.

Secretary Miranda Castro concluded by saying that a briefing would be held soon, marking the formal start of the process to establish the cluster. During the meeting, the project’s various objectives, scope, and roadmap are expected to be presented.
