Industrial infrastructure is expanding in Querétaro

In recent months, U.S. tariff policy has had a significant impact and created uncertainty across all industries; however, the construction industry has shown signs of growth this year.

Since the beginning of the year, industrial construction projects that had been confirmed last year have been resumed, giving the sector a boost, as noted by Álvaro Ugalde Chaparro, president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) in Querétaro.

Similarly, the minister noted that industrial output has continued to grow, in line with the 5% growth forecast that the sector projected at the beginning of the year, and that this trend is expected to continue in the next half-year.

Since the first half of the year, industrial construction has shown significant progress, despite last year’s conflicts. At the start of this year, industrial construction projects were able to resume, including some that had held building permits since 2025. Thus, so far, the chamber has ruled out a slowdown in industrial investment.

For their part, local construction companies have been more involved in private and industrial investment projects than in public works. Similarly, the CMIC has seen an improvement in the second half of the year and is confident that the recovery will allow them to return to the employment levels of previous periods.

It is worth to mentioning that, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), activity in Querétaro’s construction industry grew by 13.6% year-over-year in April, exceeding the national average of 10.5%.
