Soprema Invests US$300 Million in Guanajuato
Soprema has officially begun construction of a new manufacturing plant at the Polígono Empresarial San Miguel de Allende in Guanajuato, marking a major expansion of the company’s operations in Mexico and North America.
The project represents a long-term investment of approximately US$300 million and is expected to create 250 direct jobs. Soprema also plans to develop three or four additional phases that could eventually transform the site into a larger industrial campus.
The facility will produce solutions related to waterproofing, insulation, and high-performance building envelopes, supporting Soprema’s strategy to expand its presence across Mexico, North America, and Latin America.
From San Miguel de Allende, the company expects to serve key U.S. markets, including Texas, Louisiana, and the Carolinas, as well as customers in Central and South America. The project is therefore expected to strengthen Mexico’s role within regional manufacturing and supply chains.
Soprema executives described Mexico as a strategic market for the company and emphasized their commitment to establishing a long-term presence in the country. The investment also highlights the growing industrial appeal of Guanajuato and the Bajío region for international manufacturers.
The project is expected to contribute to local supplier development and create new opportunities for workers, entrepreneurs, and businesses in San Miguel de Allende. Guanajuato currently reports 79 investment projects totaling more than US$6.45 billion, further reinforcing the state’s position as an important destination for industrial investment.
