Industrial 5G Auction for Mexico City and the State of Mexico revenues
The first 5G industrial spectrum auction has an estimated value of up to US$25.9 billion in regions that include the City of Mexico (CDMX) and the State of Mexico (EDOMEX), according to the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission.
The highest figure recorded in the area corresponds to the municipalities of Azcapotzalco, Coyoacán, Cuajimalpa de Morelos, Benito Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, and Miguel Hidalgo, along with Huixquilucan and Naucalpan de Juárez, in the State of Mexico.
The figure provides an estimate of the economic valuation that the authority reviewed for the spectrum allocated to private networks for factories, logistics centers, industrial parks, and other production facilities in the country's main metropolitan market.
This month, a CRT official confirmed that the country's first 5G auction will take place at the telecommunications forum called Mexico Connect 2026, with the auction set to begin in a couple of weeks.
The figures should be viewed as economic benchmarks rather than the final prices that participants will pay.
The bidding guidelines state that the CRT will offer four 10-MHz blocks in each of the 60 industrial regions, for a total of 240 blocks between 2360 and 2400 MHz; the authority is considering the possibility of allocating 20-MHz blocks.
