Guanajuato on the Top 10 in Economic and Labor Indicators

Guanajuato has ranked among the top 10 states in Mexico based on various indicators of innovation, the economy, and the labor market in the 2026 State Competitiveness Index (ICE) published by the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO), according to a statement from the state government.

As for the labor market, it ranked sixth in terms of growth among economic units with more than 50 employees. In addition, it ranked ninth in terms of wage inequality, with a Gini coefficient of 0.33—an indicator that measures how equitably income is distributed among workers; the closer the value is to zero, the lower the inequality.

Similarly, the state ranked tenth in terms of the gap in labor informality between women and men, with a difference of just 0.6 percentage points.

Today, Guanajuato attracted more than US$6.5 billion in investments, while employment placement initiatives helped 78,000 people find jobs.
