Mexico and Bahrain have decided to expand their investment and trade relations in the industrial and automotive sectors, leveraging Mexico's manufacturing capabilities and the Arab country's position as a gateway to markets in the Gulf and the Middle East.

Among the sectors analyzed, the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, the aluminum industry, and the construction materials sector stand out, in addition to services, tourism, and automotive manufacturing.

Mariana Tuma, president of the Mexican-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, explained that the goal is to identify locations where trade can be developed and industries that are well-positioned to expand new investments.

Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the governments of Hidalgo and the State of Querétaro were present at the meeting, as were representatives from CANIFARMA, CANALUM, CANACO, and CONCANACO SERVYTUR. CMEX, Grupo México, and ARZYZ also participated on behalf of the business sector.

During the meeting, one of the key topics was the importance of leveraging the geographical locations of both countries to facilitate business access to other regions.

Mexico is highly integrated with North America in terms of production, while Bahrain is connected to the Gulf countries and other Middle Eastern markets.

Shaikh Abdulla Rashed Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Mexico, stated: “Mexico and Bahrain are economies of different scales, but with highly complementary advantages. Both countries have the capacity to serve as bridges to their respective regions, creating opportunities to strengthen trade, investment, and business cooperation.”

The pharmaceutical, aluminum, and construction industries have been identified as areas with potential for expanding opportunities.
