The main industry divisions of the aerospace sector have presence in states like Chihuahua, Nuevo Leon, Sonora, Baja California, Coahuila, Queretaro and Jalisco, according to data from ProMexico. This sector embeds different types of activities (mainly, related to MRO, assembly and manufacture) whose competitive qualities have earned worldwide prestige. On the other hand, the aeronautic cluster has developed dynamically, thus positioning Mexico among the 10 leading countries globally in this sector, according to the firm KPMG. Due to the competitive nature in this area of production, only the state of Queretaro has captured roughly 85% of total foreign investment in this sector. Sure enough, Mexico will continue to be the go-to source to supply this industry, and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) prospects that about 40,000 airplanes will have to be produced during the term 2040-2045 to support the growth of the units operating all over the world.
