Aerospace industry now has more than 80 companies

The head of the Secretariat of Sustainable Development (SEDESU), Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, reported that the aerospace industry in Querétaro continues to grow, with more than 80 companies currently making up the sector’s cluster in the state.
The official emphasized that the state remains a magnet for new investment, with projects soon to be announced or inaugurated, driven by the confidence of companies in the sector.
“It is an industry that continues to grow and strengthen (…) the major aerospace players continue to invest in our state,” he noted.
He indicated that the sector’s development strategy focuses on advanced manufacturing, with the goal of increasing the added value of production through the establishment of companies specializing in high-engineering components.
In this regard, he noted that among the products developed in the state are specialized structures such as honeycomb panels, which require advanced technical processes.
Del Prete explained that Querétaro has a comprehensive supply chain in the aerospace industry, ranging from design and manufacturing to maintenance, testing, and component assembly.
Regarding the defense sector, he noted that there is a presence in the state, albeit a modest one, and highlighted the collaboration with institutions such as the Aeronautical University of Querétaro (UNAQ) and the Intercontinental Airport for the development of unmanned drone testing.
Regarding investments, he reported that there are currently six projects in the pipeline in the aviation sector, and that 13 projects were completed in the last period, representing an investment of approximately US$504 million.
