AHMSA and Chinese consortium invest US$330 million in Coahuila

MONCLOVA — Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) is preparing 16 hectares that will be occupied by the new Coking Plant in Steelworks 2 in Monclova, a US$330 million investment project jointly developed by AHMSA and the Chinese consortium Beijing Shougang International Engineering Technology. With a design capacity of 1.2 million tons of coke per year, the plant will be made of 120 ovens, 2 modules consisting of a pusher, a loading and guiding machine, a by-products plant and a dust collection system. Said investment will be initially 80% financed by the Chinese consortium, through the Sinesure bank, its construction will take two years and more than 1,000 external jobs will be generated through local companies.
