Air Temp inaugurates plant in Yucatan

YUCATAN - Air Temp de México inaugurated a radiator manufacturing plant for the automotive industry in Umán, Yucatán, generating 250 direct jobs and 650 indirect jobs for Yucatecan families.

The CEO of Air Temp de México, Jorge Habib Abimerhi, and the Governor of Yucatán, Mauricio Vila Dosal, launched the operations of this plant as part of the relocation of the firm's production processes, previously located in Puebla.

These processes are related to OEMs such as Volkswagen, Nissan, Caterpillar, Peugeot and John Deere. From Yucatán, radiator demand will be met in Mexico, the United States, Brazil, Argentina, France, China, India and Thailand.

In his message, Vila Dosal highlighted his government's vision of turning Yucatán into the new border with the east coast of the United States, which is becoming a reality with the arrival of international and local companies such as Air Temp.

Ernesto Montalvo Escandón, Director of the Powertrain Area for Volkswagen North America, pointed out that the infrastructure and legal certainty offered by Yucatán make it an extremely attractive state for companies. He expressed his confidence that both Volkswagen and Air Temp will continue to grow hand in hand with Yucatán.

Jorge Habib Abimerhi thanked the Governor for his work focused on the economic development of Yucatan through industrialization, consolidating the state as an industrial reference.

He highlighted Yucatan's public safety, legal certainty and strategic geographic position, factors that make it ideal to become a border with the eastern United States and attract specialized industry.

The head of the Ministry of Economic Development and Labor (Sefoet), Ernesto Herrera Novelo, affirmed that this strategic move reinforces Air Temp's presence in Yucatán and in the market, and is a manifestation of the capacity of Yucatecan industry and the palpable impact of nearshoring in the state.
