Alliance Air Products LLC, a privately-owned manufacturer of custom commercial air handling units, packaged HVAC equipment and related products, has expanded its presence in Tijuana by occupying a new, built-to-suit 200,000 square foot facility in El Florido.

The building was completed on December 1st and is expected to be fully operational by mid-January.

Alliance Air is also leasing a second 36,000 square foot facility in the same industrial park. The company is a licensed maquiladora with headquarters in San Diego and manufacturing facilities in Tijuana.

The company started operations in Tijuana in 2004, in a 33,000-square foot building located on Blvd. Insurgentes. Two years later they leased a second building in the same park, bringing their total manufacturing space to 51,000 square feet.

By early 2008, they had outgrown their existing facilities and leased a newer, 110,000 square foot building in El Refugio. At this time the company employed almost 120 full-time workers.

The economic downturn which began in 2009 greatly affected the commercial construction industry and the markets that support it, including the commercial HVAC industry.

However, Alliance Air continued to grow steadily through this period by focusing on product improvement, cost containment, and expanding their representative network.

By late 2015 the company had outgrown its current facility and began a search for a new and larger building. At this time, the company employed about 230 people.

In March of 2016, Alliance Air signed a lease purchase agreement with El Florido for a new, purpose built facility. Construction began in April, and operations were moved from the old facility to the new El Florido facility in December.

Alliance Air now employs nearly 700 workers, covering the entire range of skills from basic assembly, to journeyman welders and electrical technicians, to highly specialized professions like engineering, solid modeling, and production management.

The company more than doubled in size in 2016 alone, and expects its growth to continue through the coming year. Alliance Air’s President, Thomas Sieber, predicts that within two years the company’s sales will approach US$ 100 million.
