AMLO and Elon Musk to discuss Tesla’s arrival in Mexico

MEXICO - The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and Elon Musk will discuss the arrival of the electric car company Tesla to the country, where it intends to install an industrial plant.

This was confirmed to the media by the Mexican Foreign Minister, Marcelo Ebrard, after meeting with the Business Coordinating Council (CCE).

"There will be a call from Elon Musk and the President of the Republic, and I will (soon) confirm the exact date," he said when asked about Tesla's arrival in Mexico, and assured that he would confirm the date of the meeting this afternoon.

However, he affirmed that very soon there will be confirmation that the U.S. company will be installed in the country, although he did not want to give more details.

Ebrard added that the plant that Tesla will possibly install in Mexico is very close to the Government's priorities in terms of electromobility.

"They have chosen Mexico to increase their presence and increase it in the coming years, it is very good news," he added.
