MEXICO — Arca Continental reported a 14% increase in net sales during 2018 (US$8 billion), mainly due to the combination of a pricing strategy and a positive volume trend in Mexico and the United States, the company reported on Tuesday.
"In South America, Peru continues its quick recovery, and Argentina demonstrates the ability of our collaborators to face challenging macroeconomic environments. It is important to highlight that, even in an environment of volatility of some of our main raw materials, EBITDA (operating flow) reached US$1.4 billion, an increase of 5.7% compared to 2017, "explained Arturo Gutiérrez, CEO of Arca Continental.
The net profit registered US$454 million, a decrease of 33.5% with respect to the previous year. In part, this is explained by the figures for the fourth quarter, when profits fell 45.3% due to the extraordinary adjustments of deferred taxes in the United States and the sale of Topo Chico in that country.
In addition, during 2018, the non-carbonated beverage segment increased by 15.6%, while personal and carbonated water showed increases of 11.1% and 5.5%, respectively.
